Domestic music of the 18th Century

The programme gives a vivid picture of musical life in the historic houses of Britain. It includes favourite operatic arias in contemporary domestic arrangements, favourite operatic numbers arranged for amateur chamber music, favourites by Handel, songs from the shows and traditional songs and dances. Apart from sonatas by Corelli and Scarlatti all the music comes from 18th century editions.
